What stories are you telling yourself?

Your experience of life is a product of the stories running in your mind. How you react to those stories determines what manifests in your daily life and, more importantly, how you FEEL.
•
📖 STORY - That woman just stared at me as I yelled at my kids so she must think I’m a bad mom.

BELIEF - I’m a bad mom.
👇🏼
FEELINGS - Insecurity, guilt, shame
✨
REALITY - A woman looked your way while you yelled at your kids.
•
📖 STORY- My ex doesn’t understand why I left him and says I ruined his life.
👇🏼
BELIEF - I’m a bad person because I hurt someone (or) I’m so misunderstood.
👇🏼
FEELINGS - Guilt, shame, frustration
✨
REALITY - Your ex is healing from the emotional pain of a breakup. His/her projections are a reflection of his/her insecurity only.
•
📖 STORY - I’ve been denied by every job I’ve applied to.
👇🏼
BELIEF - I’m not good enough and no one wants to hire me.
👇🏼
FEELINGS - Hopelessness, shame, insecurity, doubt
✨
REALITY - You have applied to many jobs that are not the right fit for you right now. Your doubt could be interfering with your success.
•
What to do?!?

Be aware of your insecurities.
•
Notice when you are projecting your own self-judgment onto a situation.
•
Stop collecting weak evidence that only serves to justify your false beliefs. Don’t be fearless. Be brave.
•
Fearlessness is the absence of fear and that’s not very helpful at all, if you think about it.
•
We need fear.
•
Fear keeps us alive.
•
YOUR job is to help your body distinguish between “I’m gonna die” fear and “I’m trying something new” fear.
•
When fear shows up, don’t push her away. Don’t allow her to stop you in your tracks just when you’re about to do something really cool.
•
Invite her along for the ride.
•
Bravery happens when you’re able to be completely yourself and take action despite fear.
•
Fear is your companion. If fear is showing up, it usually means you should be showing up too.
•

Fun fact: In my twenties, I randomly auditioned for a part in the play, Doubt. Never auditioned for anything before that. Didn’t get the part. But it was fun as fuck to try.

Anyway, why is DOUBT suuuuuuch a fiercely difficult emotion, guys? Just when I think I’m going to be confident forEVER, there’s DOUBT again. Honestly. What a dick. 🙄
•
Or so I thought until recently.
•
I realized, duh, of course DOUBT is always going to show up. Just like fear, it’s a part of our protective brain’s system for keeping us safe from DEATH.
•
Even though most of our actions (I hope) don’t involve the possibility of our impending doom, our mind is wired to respond the same.
•
So I’m trying a thing. (What else is new, right?) 😂
•
I am welcoming DOUBT. I’m literally saying, “Oh, hey girl hey! You showed up! So I guess that means this new thing I wanna try is totally worth it and some cool shit is about to happen! So come hang out JUST in case I do something dangerous today-might end up needing you to question my capacity to jump from a plane without a parachute or something.” 🤷‍♀️

It’s as though there exists this scale of necessity. The more necessary an action, the easier it is to override all the other stuff (fear, doubt, energy, shame...).
•
When we HAVE to - in order to survive - there is no other choice and no room for questioning.
•
We ACT.
•
We STOMP on our fears and the other shit that usually drives our inaction and we JUST DO IT.
•
Right?
•
Because if the other option is DEATH, who the fuck cares about fear or how much energy we have or whether we think we can or cannot?
•
We can.
•
Because we HAVE TO.
•
So we DO.
•
Could you IMAGINE what your life would be like if you acted on every well-intended inspiration?
